Two major events are taking place in Medicine Hat that are bound to make your summer memorable. Travel to southeast Alberta to take in the views, get away from it all, or experience something new.

Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede

Couldn’t make it to Stampede in Calgary? Well, Medicine Hat has its own Stampede from July 25 to 28, 2018. There will be carnival games, the Cactus Saloon, a petting zoo, agricultural displays, beer gardens and live entertainment. Notable country music stars Tanya Tucker, Corb Lund and High Valley will be performing, as well as Joan Jett and The Blackhearts. The excitement never seems to dwindle during Stampede, whether you are spending time at the carnival or watching a ranch horse competition. The parade is on July 26 and tickets can be purchased online.

Cars and Guitars Festival

Is there anything better? Medicine Hat’s Classic Rock Festival is an outdoor festival where the finest classic cars enjoy some sunshine. The festival runs from August 17 to 18, with plenty of local food vendors, live music, beer gardens and activities for the kids. To better plan out your days, check out the Cars and Guitars Festival official page

Saturday Farmers' Market

Agriculture is everywhere in Alberta and the Saturday farmers’ market celebrates everything the local area has to offer. In addition to locally grown food, you can shop preserves, woodcrafts, knits and other treats for the self. Who knows what you can find? The market starts at 9 am every Saturday until October 6 at the Cypress Centre Fieldhouse or Pavilion.

The Hunt exhibit

From June 9 until November 3, the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre will be home to a curated museum exhibit exploring the history of hunting and wildlife in Southern Alberta. You can learn the changes in hunting practices and attitudes to animals over time and understand the role of hunting in the area today. The exhibit is an opportunity to immerse yourself in The Hunt - and admission is free.

If you’re travelling to Medicine Hat from outside the area, the Home Inn Express is your home away from home. With amenities ranging from free wi-fi, a pet-friendly atmosphere, complimentary continental breakfast, free parking and guest laundry services, you can focus on making the most of your day.

Visit Medicine Hat and shop local, jam out, or experience your first Stampede event. Wherever you go, stay in the heart of Medicine Hat and start planning out your trip
