With its sweeping scenery and vast terrain, Medicine Hat is an outdoor lover’s paradise and wonderland in the winter. Take advantage of it all by getting outside to play in one of our many beautiful parks—a great option if you’re looking for things to do in Medicine Hat or Christmas activities to enjoy in the daytime with the family.
Police Point Park
Head to Police Point Park for more than 115 kilometers of trails to explore and some of the most spectacular sprawling scenery in the province—featuring coulees that were carved out during the last ice age. Along with a great view, this park offers cross-country and snowshoe rentals for a whole day filled with exploration and fun.
Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park
Cypress Hills is an epicenter for winter activities in Medicine Hat. Not only is the park home to top-notch hills for skiing and snowboarding (for all skill levels, from beginners to intermediate), but there is also a “snowluge” for tobogganers as well as a 600-meter ice skating loop—conveniently located right beside a hut where you can take refuge from the snow to build a fire, warm up, and fuel up on snacks.
Southridge Community Park
Southridge Community Park is a local favourite wintertime spot in Medicine Hat, and for good reason! Not only is it known to have the very best sledding hill in the city, but it also boasts a frozen pond that’s perfect for ice skating. Go with the family or your special someone for a fun-filled day of adventure in the snow.
